Job Overview:
The primary function of the Assistant Controller is to lead all monthly and annual financial closes, supervise accounting staff, and be responsible for the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting and reporting of consolidated business results. This is an Exempt position reporting to the Controller.


Primary Duties:
  • Manage monthly financial close activities for multiple divisions.
  • Oversee and manage general ledger accounting activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting, including consolidations, intercompany accounting, chart of accounts maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations and supporting schedules.
  • Review or prepare journal entries, review Trial balance flux analysis and Balance Sheet reconciliations for accuracy and completeness, review business unit and departmental P&L’s, discuss monthly results with employees.
  • Oversee the Fixed Asset accounting process including capitalization of assets, disposals, reconciliation and reporting.
  • Oversee completion of monthly Financial Statements in accordance with generally acceptable accounting principles.
  • Manage company’s internal and external reporting, prepare/compile, review and present to leadership.
  • Complete bank covenant reports (quarterly analysis).
  • Participate and lead in cross-departmental projects as Accounting/Finance advisory.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts.
  • Provide support during all audits and update auditing schedules.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to team members.
  • Work with direct reports to establish performance goals and objectives for each year, and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
  • Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and processes to enhance the workflow of the department.
  • Perform special accounting analysis and other projects, as requested.
  • Regular interaction with peers on-site, including face-to-face meetings and spontaneous conferences.
  • Regular and reliable attendance and presence at work.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with customers and colleagues through professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness.
  • Follow company quality, safety and environmental guidelines as well as employee handbook policies.
  • Ability to effectively perform responsibilities under a high level of stress.
  • Operate with constant alertness and prioritize safety in all tasks.
  • Fulfill any additional duties, as assigned by management, contributing to the overall success and efficiency of the team.
Qualifications / Experience / Education:
  • Possesses strong leadership and management abilities.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize work, communicate tasks and motivate personnel.
  • BS degree in accounting or other relevant area.
  • Certification such as CMA or CPA is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting standards / GAAP principles; knowledge of auditing principles and practices.
  • 7+ years’ experience at manager level is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Extensive knowledge of Excel, experience with Sage Intacct is a plus.
  • Able to pass 7-year criminal background check.
